The Story of a Photographer

Hi! I'm Charlie. I'm proudly South African and I'm also an Army Veteran, both major parts of who I am and which have shaped what and how... I do what I do.

I love family, kind people, Coldplay, my Harley Davidson, a good party, trying something new and of course seeing new places around the world. I LOVE connection and I love love and all who are willing to give love freely. I have lived in many different places including Johannesburg, Pretoria, London, Manchester, Aldershot, Camberley, Colchester, Gütersloh, Herford and Afghanistan and am now settled in the Netherlands.

I photographed my first wedding in 2005 and since then... countless more. After my father passed away in 2008, I was given all of his photography equipment. His absence changed me and using his camera kept him close to me. It was our hobby, his passion and became my life.

In 2013, I realised more than ever that life could be really cruel and that we need to focus on the beauty until it drowns out the hurt. I made a snap decision to leave the Army and become a full-time wedding photographer. A tough decision at the time, but the best one I have ever made... Being part of celebrations and witnessing the love and connection between family and friends, keeps me going at the end of loooong days... I make it my mission to help others have the memories... which I cannot.

If your wedding images mean a lot to you and you would like to know more about how I approach a wedding day, then please get in touch. I'd love to tell you more and show you examples of what I do.

I look forward to meeting you and learning more about your story.
