The benefits of a 'First Look'

Are you planning your wedding and considering a 'First Look'?

Or... are you reading this and wondering what a First Look is?

A First Look is when the Bride and Groom choose to see each other BEFORE the wedding. Before their guests arrive and all the excitement of the day begins...

Traditionally, the Groom will see his Bride for the first time when she walks down the isle, but there are reasons why a couple my choose to break the tradition and see each other before the wedding, and here is to name but a few:

1. It gives you a special, intimate moment together.

A first look also gives you a very special, intimate moment with your new spouse. If you are a bit nervous, this will help to relax you, and your spouse can comfort you and let you know it will all be OK. So much planning has gone into this one day and now is your chance to take a moment and say 'We are finally here!' :)

During the ceremony, there are so many of your guests around you and everyone wants to talk to you and congratulate you. Once you are with your guests (who might have come from a far and in some cases, are much more excited than you are) you will not have a moment alone again for the rest of the day. With a First Look, that special moment is just between you and your spouse (and your photographers, of course).

2. It gives you time to have your formal bridal portraits done before the day gets really busy.

Your wedding day will be so busy! There is just no getting around it. You have so much to do and so little time to do it in. If you have a First Look, it helps to calm down the day a bit. Instead of trying to rush around and have your formal bridal portraits taken between the wedding ceremony and reception while your guests are waiting, you’ll have that time to relax and enjoy WITH your guests and not have to worry about being late to your reception or leave your guests alone.

We can take our time and do all of the main portraits before the ceremony even begins. Apart from spending a few moments alone with your loved one, the most important reason for a First Look is... your hair and makeup will still be perfect! You will also not be rushed because you only have 10 mins away from your guests. You can just enjoy this time together and look forward to spending time with your guests later and spending more time... at your own wedding :)

3. It makes your day a little longer.

Before your wedding has even started, you have had a little time together to just enjoy each other's company and actually take a minute to realise that this is really happening! Having the time together before your ceremony, makes your day a little longer (as it all goes so fast) and also means that you will have more time with your guests later (as you don't have to leave for the formal bridal portraits).

Even when you have a first look, you will both be just as happy to see each other and your husband's breath will still be taken away when his beautiful bride walks down the aisle!

Every Wedding is different and every couple unique. How you plan your day, is up to you!

I just want you to know that you don't have to be traditional and you can plan your day around what is important to you :)

Happy planning!
